This new addition to the County's bus fleet will improve transit\r\noperations in rural areas, increasing public transportation for disabled and\r\nelderly individuals in Webb County. Funds for this grant program were provided\r\nthrough the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). \r\n\r\nIncreasing\r\naccess to unrestricted public transportation for commuters in the 28th\r\nDistrict of Texas is a top priority for Congressman Cuellar. Presently, there\r\nare six bus routes which cover most of the rural areas of Webb County. The new\r\nshuttle bus will increase public transit access for rural residents who lack\r\nsufficient transportation options, including low-income and senior citizens. \r\n\r\nResidents\r\nin Webb County and in rural areas across the country deserve the same access to\r\npublic transportation afforded to urban areas, said Congressman Cuellar.\r\nThis new shuttle bus will provide an additional mode of transportation, making\r\nbus travel in Laredo safer and more accessible for citizens and visitors alike.\r\nI would like to recognize the Federal Transit Administration, the Texas\r\nDepartment of Transportation, and Webb County for focusing on the needs of this\r\ncommunity.
