Dennis A. Ross (FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority Whip, has proudly announced his nominations for students seeking appointment to a U.S. Service Academy for the 2016 school year.\r\nRoss makes nominations for the five different U.S. Service Academies, up to ten candidates for each vacancy at each Academy, and the Academies make the final appointment decisions. Each congressional member may not have more than five midshipmen or cadets at each Academy at one time. Therefore, new applicants are considered only when a vacancy occurs in the quota through graduation or other causes. The 14 students nominated from the 15th Congressional District have been through an arduous application process, and will soon be notified whether they will receive an appointment to their desired Academies. Acceptance of an appointment commits an applicant to a 10-year obligation to the Service (four years at the Academy and six years on active duty). It is one of the highest honors I have as a Member of Congress to assist deserving constituents in seeking appointment to a U.S. Service Academy, said Ross. I want to congratulate these exceptional students for their hard work and dedication, and thank them for their willingness to serve our nation. I have no doubt every one of them will represent the 15th District of Florida well.\r\n \r\nBelow is a list of the students who received nominations to a Service Academy: Lakeland\r\nChase Madden (Lakeland High School) U.S. Military Academy (West Point) \r\nGeorge Madden (Lakeland High School) U.S. Military Academy (West Point)\r\nTampa \r\nIlenia Armstrong (Wharton High School) U.S. Naval Academy; U.S. Air Force Academy; U.S. Merchant Marine Academy \r\nConnor Aspray (C.
