Dennis A. Ross (FL-15), Senior Deputy Majority\r\nWhip, released the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 2029, the Protecting\r\nAmericans from Tax Hikes Act, which makes permanent more than 20 tax relief\r\nprovisions, extends a number of other tax relief provisions for multiple years,\r\nfosters research and development, and includes a number of additional tax\r\npolicy changes:\r\n\r\nI\r\nwas very happy to vote for the Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes Act because\r\nthis bill will grow our economy and help American taxpayers keep more of their\r\nhard-earned dollars. By making a number of temporary tax provisions permanent,\r\nthis legislation delivers predictability, clarity, and certainty for\r\nindividuals, families and job creators. Americans will no longer have to worry\r\neach December if Congress will take action to extend certain tax relief\r\npolicies.\r\n\r\nThe\r\nprovisions in this bill will prevent a significant immediate tax increase on\r\nmillions of Americans by allowing state sales tax deductions, providing small\r\nbusiness tax relief, and offering incentives for innovation. By delivering\r\npermanent tax relief to Americas job creators, this legislation will make it\r\neasier for employers to plan ahead, hire new workers, grow their businesses,\r\nand invest in their communities.\r\n\r\nThis\r\nlegislation also includes a number of provisions designed to help prevent high\r\nrates of improper payments, fraud, and abuse in our tax credit programs. This bill\r\nfurther includes a series of reforms designed to rein in the power of the IRS\r\nand better protect taxpayers, including firing IRS employees who take\r\npolitically motivated actions against taxpayers, requiring IRS employees to\r\nrespect the taxpayer bill of rights, and prohibiting IRS employees from using\r\npersonal e-mail accounts for official business.\r\n\r\nAmericans\r\ndeserve a simpler, fairer and flatter tax code that is built for growth and\r\nstability, and this bill will help make that possible with many conservative\r\nprovisions.\r\n\r\n\r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://dennisross.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398422"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9189862757921219, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
