Although I did not personally know Bree, her story and the tragic events that led to her death are a constant reminder that we must never stop working to end this nation\u2019s epidemic of domestic violence and abuse,\u201d said Congressman Don Young. \u201cI am thankful to Bree\u2019s parents, Butch and Cindy, for their tireless advocacy to save others from facing the heartbreak and loss their family felt on June 26, 2014. This legislation, introduced alongside Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, is just a small step in honoring the life of Breanna Moore.\u201d\r\n\r\nCongressman Young meeting with Breanna Moore\u2019s parents, Butch and Cindy, in Anchorage.\r\nIn 2015, Congress passed the first major reform and reauthorization to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) since the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) became law in 2002. Section 4108 of that law allows schools to use Safe and Healthy Students program funding to \u201cimprove instructional practices for developing relationship-building skills, such as effective communication, and improve safety through the recognition and prevention of coercion, violence, or abuse, including teen and dating violence, stalking, domestic abuse, and sexual violence and harassment.\u201d Congressman Young\u2019s legislation would allow Section 4108 to be referred to as \u201cBree\u2019s Law.\u201d\r\nThe legislation would:\r\n \r\n    Allow clause (iv) of section 4108(5)(C) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) to be cited as \u201cBree\u2019s Law.\u201d\r\n    Allow programs or activities carried out under this clause to be referred to as \u201cBree\u2019s Law programs\u201d or \u201cBree\u2019s Law activities.\u201d\r\n \r\n\u00a0\r\n ###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://donyoung.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=398784"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6621091160923243, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
