Today,Alaska Congressman Don Young announced that nearly $2 million in funding has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to various recipients in Alaska. These grants were made under the Social & Economic Development Strategies grant program, which promotes social and economic self-sufficiency in communities. Additionally, Catholic Social Services, Inc received funding as part of the Wilson-Fish (WF) program which provides assistance to refugees.\r\nThe COVID-19 pandemic has made this year very difficult for our nation, but I have witnessed leaders from across our state step up to ensure that Alaskans can weather these unprecedented times, said Congressman Don Young. Securing the long-term health and economic well-being of Alaskans requires a supportive federal response. This funding from the Department of Health and Human Services is welcome news for the countless individuals and families who may require assistance to make ends meet amid this pandemic. I am grateful to Secretary Alex Azar and the Trump Administration for identifying the need for health care funding and economic opportunity in our state. In Congress, I will always stand up for our communities, and I know that by working together, we will come out the other side of this stronger than ever.\"\r\nGrant recipients and award amounts:\r\n \r\n    AK Asa'carsarmiut, $98,951\r\n    The Kodiak Archipelago Leadership Institute, $372,353\r\n    Catholic Social Services, Inc., $100,000\r\n    Sealaska Heritage Institute, $282,098\r\n    Orutsararmiut Traditional Native Council, $198,902\r\n    Cook Inlet Tribal Council, Inc., $400,000\r\n    Native Village of Unalakleet, $200,000\r\n    Organized Village of Kake, $200,000\r\n \r\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://donyoung.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=401766"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7069581188261509, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
