However, his apology does not change the reality that his law has forced millions of Americans to lose the healthcare plans they presumably liked. It does not change the fact that Denise may not have coverage she needs when the time comes for her to receive a kidney transplant. His apology certainly doesn\u2019t help Warren, who had a doctor a few miles away from his home, but thanks to the President\u2019s law, he will now need to drive up to 70 miles each way. However, it is not enough to just talk about the harmful impact of this law, we have to be resolved to do something about it. This week I re-introduced my prescription plan that would bring much needed relief to my constituents and the many Americans who have found themselves inconvenienced by this law.\u00a0 A few key points from, The Patient Centered Healthcare Savings Act of 2013: \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Allow consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines, which will increase choices for all Americans and ensure competition which will bring down healthcare costs. \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Expand the usefulness of Health Savings Accounts by removing restrictions on contributions, and permit expenditures for premiums and additional preventive health services. \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ensures adequate coverage for all individuals by: strengthening state high risk pools, requiring coverage for pre-existing conditions, and allow those up to age 23 to stay on their parents\u2019 plans, and permitting association health plans. \u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Roots out Medicare waste, fraud and abuse by cracking down on unlawful durable medical equipment (DME) providers. Join the Energy Revolution:\u00a0This week the House passed, and I was glad to support, three bills that would bolster our energy production and create jobs. Today, thanks to the private sector, the United States is poised to become a global energy leader, decreasing our dependency on hostile foreign governments in the Middle East and creating hundreds of thousands of great paying jobs.\u00a0 However, bureaucratic regulations and red tape are standing in the way of our ultimate success. These bills support energy industries in the 7th District such as sand mining.\u00a0 It's time for the President to get out of the way, and join the Energy Revolution as well.\u00a0 Read more\u00a0here. The \u201cUltimate Consumer Protection\u201d:\u00a0Three of my Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) reform bills cleared the Financial Services Committee this week. Among them H.R. 2571, the Consumer Right to Financial Privacy Act of 2013. When the Federal government collects and monitors information on Americans, especially when there is little or no justification for it, it really makes Americans mad. If the CFPB wants to collect, retain and monitor information on Americans, they have to get our permission. This bill is the ultimate consumer protection giving Americans direct control of our information when it relates to the government.
