Full details about the upcoming event are below.\u00a0Rep. Duffy\u00a0also offered the following comments: \u201cThere is still much work to do to reduce homelessness and hunger in our communities throughout the 7th\u00a0Congressional District. The December 18th\u00a0summit will bring together local government officials, economic development associations, non-profits, religious organizations, and government agencies to foster what I hope will be a productive discussion about ways we can work together to curb this issue in our own backyard.\u201d Rep. Duffy emphasized the importance of a public and private partnership adding, \u201cAddressing and solving these issues will take whole communities and many different partners at the table. I look forward to learning more about these issues and our neighbors who are impacted by them, ways to address them in our communities, and learning about what other communities are doing to address these issues.\u201d In 2011 and 2012, 13.5% of homes in the 7th\u00a0Congressional District faced food hardships, including 22.7% of our children. Additionally, over 2,000 individuals received documented care from homeless shelters, not to mention the thousands that did not receive care or live \u201ccouch-to-couch.
