Duncan, Jr. (R-Tenn.) released the following statement Thursday following his vote against a massive bill Omnibus-Continuing Resolution to fund the government through next year:\n\tDuring my time in Congress, I have never voted for an omnibus spending bill.\u00a0 I am very much opposed to funding the government at the end of the year with massive, last-minute bills where they throw in just about everything but the kitchen sink. It is simply a bad way to do business.\n\tThere really was no way to find out what all was in the bill.\u00a0 It contained more than $1 trillion in spending at a time we have a national debt of $18 trillion that is still rising at a very fast rate.\n\tOf course in a bill this massive, I could find things that I liked, but I couldn\u2019t vote for a bill that funded President Obama\u2019s amnesty program and included increases for many departments and agencies even above what some were asking.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://duncan.house.gov/press-release/duncan-opposes-massive-omnibus-spending-bill"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9659840725362301, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
