{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://foster.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/house-passes-foster-provision-to-save-argonne-millions", "House Passes Foster Provision To Save Argonne Millions", "2014-12-12", "2014", "2014-12", "Democrat", "House", "IL", "Bill Foster", "F000454", "foster.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Washington, DC \u2013 Today the House passed a provision, championed by Congressman Bill Foster, that would enable Argonne National Laboratory to save millions of dollars by finally removing on-site nuclear waste.\u00a0\n\u201cThis commonsense provision will save taxpayer dollars and allow Argonne to devote more funding to research and development,\u201d said Foster. \u201cResearch done at Argonne, and all of our national labs, is critical to maintaining our innovative edge in the global economy.\u201d\nToday the House passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill, which includes language that would enable Argonne to remove nuclear waste currently being housed on-site.\nEvery year, Argonne spends approximately $3.8 million to maintain and house nuclear waste. The language championed by Foster would instruct the Department of Energy to provide additional funding to sites with small amounts of nuclear waste, like Argonne, to allow them to properly dispose of such waste.\u00a0 Eliminating this waste would save Argonne $3.8 million every year, allowing them to better use the funds for other priorities, including research and staff.\nThe legislation will now advance to the Senate for a vote.\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://foster.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/house-passes-foster-provision-to-save-argonne-millions"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9487948846071959, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
