Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) released the following statement after voting to reauthorize and reform the Export-Import Bank. While I have worked for years to shrink state and federal government, the fixation on eliminating the Ex-Im Bank by some conservatives, instead of focusing on must-fix items like massive welfare spending and an out-of-control immigration system, has been perplexing. The Ex-Im Bank has returned money to the Treasury every year for the past 20 years  totaling over $7 billion.    While some opponents may claim the Bank only helps larger corporations, the truth is for every job created at a larger company, many more are created at local suppliers, manufacturers and small businesses. This bank is necessary for companies like Caterpillar, Pierce, Rockwell Automation and Manitowoc Crane to create jobs, spur innovation and lead America forward. The fact is, without Ex-Im financing our manufacturing sector will lose sales to countries like China, Germany and India.  The United State currently has a trade deficit of $500 billion and that number will only increase without the Ex-Im Bank. Manufacturing is the backbone of Wisconsins economy and the 6th Congressional District has more manufacturing jobs than any other district in America. Wed like to keep it that way. While I disagreed with the process some of my colleagues decided to pursue to bring this legislation to the House floor, passing this legislation is important to my district and the state of Wisconsin.
