What we are seeing today is a president who picks and chooses which laws he wants to enforce,\u201d added Congressman Guthrie.\r\n\r\n\tH.R. 5759 prevents President Obama (or any future president) from exempting the removal of specific groups of unlawful aliens, except when using Constitutional powers over foreign affairs or humanitarian and law enforcement circumstances.\u00a0 In doing so, it also reaffirms that the Constitution only grants lawmaking powers to Congress, and that it is the president\u2019s job to enforce such laws.\u00a0\u00a0\r\n\r\n\t\u201cOur nation\u2019s immigration system is broken and need to be addressed, but just as Congress reviews other issues of concern, it must be done through regular order,\u201d said Congressman Guthrie.\r\n\r\n\t###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://guthrie.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=24&itemid=1463"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8740548510104418, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
