Elizabeth's black ink scratchboard rendering of a crab, titled \u201cBlue,\u201d will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for a year. (Please see a photo of \u201cBlue,\u201d above.) \n\u201cI was amazed by Elizabeth\u2019s attention to detail, and I am excited to see her artwork hang in the U.S. Capitol for all to enjoy,\u201d said Rep. Harris. \u201cAll 38 of this year\u2019s participants were impressive, and I hope they will continue to share their artistic talents with others throughout their high school career and beyond.\u201d\nBoth the Congressman and a professional artist from his district\u2014Nancy O\u2019Brien, co-president of the Kent Island Federation of Art\u2014judged the artwork. The Congressman and Ms. O\u2019Brien also selected a 2nd- and 3rd-place winner, while the Congressman\u2019s Facebook followers voted for a \u201cPeople\u2019s Choice\u201d winner. They are as follows: YeJin Han of Parkside High (2nd place), Cristina Perez of Elkton High (3rd place), and Lauren Gomez of Easton High (People\u2019s Choice). Harris\u2019 Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AndyHarrisMD.\nEvery year since 1982, the U.S. House of Representatives has sponsored the competition to recognize the artistic talents of high school students in each Congressional district throughout the country.
