Rep. Hultgren recently visited Shanksville, Pennsylvania and the Flight 93 National Memorial which is still under construction. His friend and high school classmate, Todd Beamer, and others on Flight 93 helped bring the plane down before it could cause further destruction.\n(Click picture to watch video)\nFollowing are Rep. Hultgren\u2019s prepared remarks:\nToday we remember those who lost their lives 13 years ago, on a day that changed our nation forever.\nYesterday, Congress bestowed the highest civilian honor \u2013the Congressional Gold Medal \u2013 on the fallen heroes of 9/11.\nOne of those was Todd Beamer, a high school friend of mine.\nDeclaring \u201cLet\u2019s Roll,\u201d he and the other brave Americans on Flight 93 helped prevent further catastrophe while sacrificing their own lives in the process.\nThis summer I had the privilege of touring the Flight 93 National Memorial and museum in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.\nThere, I presented a Wheaton Academy high school yearbook to be included in the museum\u2019s archives.\nConstruction is still underway on this moving tribute to the 40 heroes.\nLooking out over the crash site, I was reminded again that the world is still a dangerous place, and our freedoms are only a generation away from extinction.\nFreedom isn\u2019t inherited; it must be protected against those who would destroy it.\nHonoring the sacrifices of Todd and all who perished on 9/11 requires we forever remain vigilant in defense of our nation\u2019s cherished values.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://hultgren.house.gov//newsroom/press-releases/watch-hultgren-remembers-friend-and-911-hero-todd-beamer"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.2325639836490154, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
