Jones (NC-3) continued his long-standing fight for American businesses and workers.\u00a0 Yesterday, Jones and Congressman Mike Doyle (PA-14) offered an amendment to a water infrastructure bill (S. 612) that would permanently require all iron and steel products used in projects financed by the U.S. taxpayer-funded Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) to be made in the United States, not China or other foreign nations.\u00a0 The amendment was defeated in an 3-8 party line vote in the House Rules Committee.\u00a0 A version of the amendment was then offered as a motion on the House floor, but was defeated again on a vote of 184-236.\u00a0 The underlying bill \u2013 without the Doyle/Jones \u201cBuy American\u201d provision \u2013 was subsequently approved and now goes to the Senate for final consideration.\u00a0\u00a0\nNot giving up the fight for American workers, Congressman Jones is joining his colleagues Cheri Bustos (IL-8) and Dan Lipinski (IL-3) in introducing a stand-alone bill \u2013 H.R. 6460 \u2013 similar to the amendment and motion offered earlier this week.\n\u201cAmericans\u2019 taxpayer dollars should support American-made infrastructure, not Chinese,\u201d said Congressman Jones.\u00a0 \u201cTo me, that\u2019s just common sense.\u00a0 While I am disappointed that more of my colleagues didn\u2019t support that concept this time, I will continue to do everything I can to fight for the workers and businesses of America.\u201d\n\u00a0\nFor additional information, please contact Allison Tucker in Congressman Jones\u2019 office at (202) 225-3415 or allison.tucker@mail.house.gov.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://jones.house.gov/press-release/jones-continues-fight-american-workers"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.7322030141949654, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
