Jones (NC-3) and Thomas Massie (KY-4) will hold a press conference on their bill to de-authorize the office allowances, franking privileges, and staff help that former speakers of the House enjoy when leave office. The practice has been used by speakers of both parties at the expense of the taxpayer. Former Speaker Dennis Hasterts post-speaker office cost taxpayers $1.9 million over five years, but could have cost up to $4 million.
