In the coming weeks, the House is expected to vote on my legislation, the Providing Accountability through Transparency Act. This legislation would require each government agency, in providing notice of a rule making, to include a link to a 100-word plain language summary of the proposed rule. Government agencies create long-winded rules each and every day and this bill requires a short summary and ensures the agency will provide a web link at regulations.gov to make the proposed rule accessible to all Americans. Of course, Ill keep fighting against the onerous new rules and regulations being issued by the Obama Administration, but it is very important that the American people have the opportunity to read, in plain language, what is being proposed.\r\nAlso this year, I will continue oversight of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, maintain a leading role in the debate over Missouri River management, and support legislation that helps our nations veterans.\r\nIn addition, it is my hope the House will start working on tax reform in 2016. Families and small businesses deserve a tax code that is simple and fair and it is long overdue for the House to start the process of overhauling the more than four million words that are in todays tax code.\r\nIn 2015, the House passed major bills addressing education, transportation, tax relief, and lifting the ban on crude oil. The House will continue to build on its plan to keep our nation secure and a plan to create jobs, end economic uncertainty, and make America more competitive.\r\nAs we enter 2016, please remember that my offices located in Jefferson City, Wentzville, Washington, Mo., and Washington, D.C. are here to listen to your concerns and suggestions. I serve as your liaison to the federal government, but I cannot do this job alone. Hearing your ideas, so that I can put them into action, is critical to me. By working together, we can build upon our common goal to ensure 2016 is a year of prosperity and progress for all hard-working Americans.\r\nI remain committed to battling the regulations that come down from the Administration and I will continue to fight for the priorities of Americans.
