Mike Hager as Majority Leader", "2014-11-25", "2014", "2014-11", "Republican", "House", "NC", "Patrick McHenry", "M001156", "mchenry.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Chief Deputy Whip Patrick McHenry today praised the selection of State Representative Tim Moore of Cleveland County to be the next Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives.\u00a0 Moore was chosen on the first ballot by the Republican Caucus and will succeed Speaker Thom Tillis who was elected to the U.S. Senate.\u00a0\u00a0\n\u201cTim Moore and I were both elected to the North Carolina House in 2002 and it was clear from the very start that Tim was a natural leader and would do great things for our state,\u201d said Congressman McHenry.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m thrilled not just to have a Speaker from the Tenth Congressional District, but especially one of Tim\u2019s caliber serving North Carolina.\u201d\n\u00a0\n    \n        \n            \n        \n    \nAnother representative from the Tenth District also claimed the position of N.C. House Majority Leader.\u00a0 Representative Mike Hager of Rutherford County was elected to the top post in the GOP Caucus.\u00a0 \u201cMike has been a solid leader on the issues of energy and economic development and he has fought tirelessly for his constituents in Rutherford and Burke Counties.\u00a0 I know he will be a great Majority Leader.\u201d\u00a0 McHenry said.\u00a0 \u201cI would be remiss if I didn\u2019t also mention my State Representative, Jason Saine of Lincoln County, who ran a strong campaign for Majority Leader.\u00a0 Jason will continue to be an influential leader in the Legislature and I\u2019m proud to call him my Representative.\u201d\nThe North Carolina General Assembly will convene in January.\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://mchenry.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=397688"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.1718389578163624, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
