{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://mullin.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=791", "Mullin Votes to Give Troops Biggest Pay Raise in 8 Years", "2017-11-14", "2017", "2017-11", "Republican", "House", "OK", "Markwayne Mullin", "M001190", "mullin.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) voted today in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2018, which authorizes a 2.4% pay raise for service members.\r\n\u201cProviding ample support for our men and women in uniform is a fundamental role of Congress,\u201d said Mullin.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m proud to support our troops both at home and abroad by supplying our military with the tools and resources they need to be successful. \u00a0For eight years under the Obama Administration, our military was forced to do more with less while facing increasingly complex and dangerous assignments in the field.\u00a0 Today, we set a higher standard for our military and its preparedness.\u00a0 The FY18 NDAA rebuilds our military\u2019s technology and strength so that when our service members go into harm\u2019s way, they are well-equipped to handle anything they encounter.\u201d\r\n\u201cIn addition, this legislation arms our troops with the biggest pay raise in eight years,\u201d said Mullin.\u00a0 \u201cThe men and women who serve our country deserve our endless gratitude for their sacrifice.\u00a0 Their unwavering commitment to our country warrants a raise.\u201d\r\nThe NDAA\u2019s 2.4% pay raise for our men and women in uniform is the biggest pay raise for our troops in eight years.\u00a0 Additionally, the legislation increases the overall topline funding, adds additional troops to our Armed Forces, and invests in new technology to help the United States confront conflicts around the globe.\u00a0 The bill also includes language that extends Congressman Mullin\u2019s DOD Workforce Flexibility Act through Fiscal Year 2021.\u00a0 The DOD Workforce Flexibility Act gives flexibility in the hiring process for installations with a civilian workforce, like the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant.\u00a0\r\nIn July, the House passed its version of the FY18 NDAA by a vote of 344 \u2013 81.\u00a0 The Conference Report to Accompany H.R. 2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018, passed the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support by a vote of 356 \u2013 70.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://mullin.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=791"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 3.372370032593608, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
