Kristi Noem today released the following statement following President Donald Trump's announcement of a preliminary agreement with Mexico on North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) renegotiations:\r\nSouth Dakota producers grow the world's best corn, soybeans, livestock, and small grains, and they deserve to be able to trade those goods in a fair, open, and competitive marketplace. President Trump's announcement today is encouraging. I'm hopeful it is a first step in driving Canada to the table and once again offering South Dakota producers greater certainty in trade.\r\nNoem is a member of the Ways & Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over trade issues in the U.S. House of Representatives.\r\nAccording to the White House, the U.S.-Mexico pact includes:\r\n \r\nContinuation of zero tariffs on agricultural products;\r\nNew standards for agricultural biotechnology;\r\nImproved transparency and non-discriminatory treatments for agricultural product standards;\r\nEnhanced rules for science-based sanitary and phytosanitary measures; and\r\nNew disciplines on geographical indications and common names for cheeses, among other things.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://noem.house.gov/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=DBFD7CC9-68A3-413C-B99B-F3387BF9BFEE"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.4565260391682386, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
