Kristi Noem was today recognized as a \u201cHero of Main Street\u201d by the National Retail Federation.\u00a0 The award was given during a Sioux Falls roundtable Noem was holding with South Dakota retailers.\u00a0 During the event, Noem also helped unveil the new \u201cThis is Retail\u201d campaign, which features small businesses from across South Dakota.\u00a0 To view the introductory video that Noem contributed to, please click here.\r\n\u201cEvery small business starts with an idea.\u00a0 The difference in South Dakota is that there\u2019s an environment where we actively foster those ideas,\u201d said Rep. Noem.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019ve worked hard to try to replicate South Dakota\u2019s successful policies on the federal level.\u00a0 At times, we\u2019ve been successful, but there\u2019s more work to do.\u00a0 I will not stop fighting for hardworking taxpayers until they get a government that they deserve \u2013 one that does more with less and doesn\u2019t put regulations, taxes, or poorly thought out policies between them and their American Dream.\u201d\r\nCreated in 2013, the \u201cHero of Main Street \u201c award annually recognizes Members of Congress for their support for Main Street priorities.\u00a0 Noem has been a recipient in both 2013 and 2014.\r\n\u201cAs someone who has owned her own business, Rep. Noem truly understands the challenges retailers face \u2013 especially in a rural state like South Dakota,\u201d said Shawn Lyons, Executive Director of the South Dakota Retailers Association.\u00a0 \u201cRep.
