Rick Nolan issued a release stating that Lake Connections will receive $3.5 million from the Federal Communications Commission\u2019s Rural Broadband Experiment.\nThe award will come on top of $66.5 million in federal support that already has gone to Lake Connections, which is working to make high-speed broadband Internet service more accessible by constructing a fiber-optic network to serve residents of Lake and eastern St. Louis counties.\nThe project ground to a halt in August, when county officials voiced concerns that the network wouldn\u2019t be built on time or within budget.
