Joe Pitts (PA-16), the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, which cracks down on anabolic steroids use.\n\u201cDesigner anabolic steroids are dangerous, plain and simple,\u201d said Pallone.\u00a0 \u201cThey have been known to cause serious harm to consumers, especially young athletes who unwittingly use these products.\u00a0 As such, it is vital to ensure that they are classified as controlled substances so the DEA can quickly capture them before they reach the marketplace and potentially endanger consumers.\u00a0 My legislation does just that, and I am pleased that the President has signed it into law.\u201d\nThe \u201cDesigner Anabolic Steroid Control Act,\u201d H.R. 4771, which passed the U.S. House of Representatives back in September and the U.S. Senate just last week, will close a loophole often exploited by steroid manufacturers to sell products that claim to be all-natural muscle builders when they, in fact, contain chemically altered versions of anabolic steroids.\u00a0 The bill will immediately place 27 new designer anabolic steroids on the DEA\u2019s list of controlled substances as well as authorize the DEA to temporarily schedule new designer drugs on the controlled substances list, which will allow the DEA to identify and list new chemicals more easily.\u00a0\nCongressman Pallone\u2019s legislation is supported by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, the American Herbal Products Association, the Consumer Healthcare Products Association, the Council for Responsible Nutrition, the United Natural Products Alliance, and the Natural Products Association, among others.\n-###-", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://pallone.house.gov/press-release/pallone-pitts-bill-crack-down-anabolic-steroids-signed-law"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9371130727231503, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
