On October 23rd, the Administration finally announced that all travelers from Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone will be screened upon entry and monitored for the full 21-day Ebola incubation period.\u00a0 \u201cTwenty-seven African nations, along with British Airways and Air France, have already taken decisive action to reduce the risk of Ebola spreading to new countries,\u201d commented Congressman Pittenger.\u00a0 \u201cFinally, we are joining them in taking responsible, prudent steps to protect hardworking American families. \u201cWe must never give in to fear, but we must also be wise, implementing necessary safeguards in the face of new threats until the danger has passed or our systems made ready.\u00a0 Full monitoring of all travelers from West Africa should have begun several weeks ago.\u201d Congressman Pittenger is currently exploring how the federal government can support international aid organizations on the front-line of the Ebola fight through better use of existing resources and programs.\n\u00a0\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://pittenger.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/pittenger-on-ebola-screening-finally"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.138842897489667, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
