The Regulation D Study Act (H.R. 3240) targets rules which limit online transfers and automatic withdrawals involving savings accounts to only six transactions per month.\u00a0 Credit unions and banks report that many customers are hit with unnecessary overdraft fees when Regulation-D blocks automatic overdraft protection transactions. \u201cThe regulators who created this rule never envisioned online banking and modern banking technology,\u201d said Congressman Pittenger (NC-09).\u00a0 \u201cAs technology advances, we need to make sure federal regulations keep pace.
