Res.772, the Uphold the Oath Americans Trust and Honor (OATH) Resolution.\u00a0 This legislation would authorize legal action against the Administration for President Obama\u2019s latest immigration overreach.\r\n\r\n\u201cArticle I, Section 8, Clause 4 of the Constitution grants Congress the responsibility to craft our country\u2019s immigration laws,\u201d said Congressman Rice.\u00a0 \u201cFurthermore, Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution states that the President shall take care that our nation\u2019s laws are faithfully executed. \u00a0President Obama has acknowledged these roles and took an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. \u00a0Instead of upholding this oath, the President has repeatedly chosen to ignore it.\u201d\r\n\r\n\u201cToday I introduced a resolution that directs the House of Representatives to authorize legal action against the Obama Administration for implementing unilateral changes to our immigration laws,\u201d Rice continued.\u00a0 \u201cThis resolution will restore legislative order and force the President to govern within his authority.\u201d \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\r\n\r\nThe Uphold the OATH Resolution is similar to Congressman Rice\u2019s Stop This Overreaching Presidency (STOP) Resolution, H. Res.442, introduced last December. \u00a0The House of Representatives voted on a similar version of the STOP Resolution this summer and filed a lawsuit against the Obama Administration for unilaterally changing Obamacare last month.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://rice.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/congressman-rice-introduces-uphold-the-oath-resolution"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.7148707993328571, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
