Richmond (LA-02) released the following statement in response to new data related to the gender wage gap in Louisiana.\n\u201cAs our state moves into an economic resurgence we must ensure our mothers, sisters, and daughters are able to share in that prosperity,\u201d said Rep. Richmond. \u201cWomen comprise a larger component of the workforce than any point in our history, and perform their duties at the same level as their male counterparts. This hard work should be reflected in their compensation.\u201d\n\u201cWe have taken steps on the federal level to address this inconsistency with legislation such as the Paycheck Fairness Act, but partisan opposition has stymied that progress.
