Period.” “Today the House acted in a bipartisan way to protect hard-working Americans from unfair rate hikes and plan cancellations. The President made a promise to the American people, and now the House of Representatives has moved to provide legislative reassurance that if Americans like their health care plans, they will truly be able to keep them. “This is an issue on which many Republicans and Democrats can find common ground. The ‘Keep Your Health Plan Act’ won’t fix every problem with ObamaCare, but it will offer real choices and peace of mind to Americans affected by these changes. Similar legislation also has broad bipartisan support in the Senate, and I urge Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring the bill forward for a vote right away. President Obama announced Thursday he would pursue an "administrative" change that would allow insurers to continue offering canceled insurance plans for another year even though they may not comply with the Affordable Care Act. “The good news is the President is finally waking up and acknowledging that people are hurting because of this law. And there’s no question our efforts to tell the stories of what real people are going through put pressure on the Administration to act. “The problem is ObamaCare can’t be fixed through executive orders. What you’re seeing now is just the beginning. It’s going to get worse. We need to start over and build a health care system that isn’t run by the government and can actually focus on the needs of patients. “I recently reached out to Alabamians asking those who have experienced health plan cancellations or rate increases because of ObamaCare to tell me their stories. The response has been overwhelming, and I shared a handful of them on the House floor yesterday.” The “Keep Your Health Plan Act” passed 261 to 157.
