Todd Rokita (R-04), were recently recognized by the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives as a \u201cFriend of Indiana\u2019s Electric Cooperatives.\u201d\u00a0\nCoats, Donnelly, Rokita and Young along with five other members of Indiana\u2019s congressional delegation, received this honor for their steadfast leadership and support of the issues and policies important to Indiana\u2019s electric cooperatives.\n\n\u201cIndiana\u2019s electric cooperatives are grateful to count Sen. Coats and Sen. Donnelly as strong friends and allies,\u201d said Scott Bowers, vice president of government relations for the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives. \u201cWhether seeking support on key votes or assistance with federal agencies, they consistently step forward in a bipartisan way to lend a helping hand. This award is one way of expressing our appreciation and acknowledging Sen. Coats\u2019 and Sen. Donnelly\u2019s impact on the 1.3 million Hoosiers we serve.\u201d\n\n\nThe \u201cFriends of Indiana\u2019s Electric Cooperatives\u201d award was unveiled this year to recognize members of Indiana\u2019s congressional delegation who have consistently supported policies, issues and regulatory reforms important to Indiana\u2019s electric cooperatives and their mission to provide safe, reliable and affordable electricity. Important votes in support of the Coal Ash Bill (H.R. 2218), the Farm Bill (S. 954 & H.R. 2642) and the REINS Act (H.R. 367) coupled with the congressional representative\u2019s willingness to engage various federal regulatory agencies on behalf of electric cooperatives were some of the considerations for this honor in 2013.\n\n\n\u201cThe safe and affordable energy provided by Indiana\u2019s electric cooperatives is vitally important to Hoosier families and businesses,\u201d said Sen. Coats. \u201cI am honored to receive this award, and I will continue to support the efforts of Indiana\u2019s electric cooperatives to provide cost-effective, reliable electricity.\u201d\n\n\nSen. Donnelly also shared his thoughts in receiving this recognition.\n\n\n\u201cIndiana\u2019s electric cooperatives provide more than a million Hoosiers with reliable, affordable electricity,\u201d said Sen. Donnelly. \u201cI am grateful to receive this honor, and I look forward to continuing to work with Indiana\u2019s rural electric cooperatives on bipartisan efforts to make sure they are able to provide affordable, reliable energy long into the future.\u201d\n\n\nFive other members of Indiana\u2019s congressional delegation joined with Sen.
