Todd Rokita joined Governor Mike Pence, Senator Joe Donnelly and other state and local elected officials, as well as emergency management officials in touring areas of Boone, Cass, Howard and Tippecanoe impacted by Sunday\u2019s storms.\u00a0\n\u201cThe toll of the damage from yesterday\u2019s storms is just starting to become clear.\u00a0 As bad as the losses are in property and possessions for families and businesses, the good news is that no lives were lost.\u00a0 I stand ready to assist local authorities in getting federal disaster relief to those who need it should it be necessary,\u201d Rokita said. \u201cMaybe the most encouraging thing I saw today was Hoosiers helping Hoosiers.\u00a0 No one was waiting around for help.\u00a0 People were just pitching in to help family, friends, neighbors and complete strangers in need.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\nRokita and his staff remain in continual contact with emergency management personnel from every county in the Fourth District to stay updated on local conditions.\u00a0\nBelow is a summary of what Rep. Rokita saw on the ground.\u00a0 Links to photo albums from the day are linked.\nEarlier today, Rokita commented on the severity of the storm, and the need for Hoosiers to report any and all damage the State of Indiana Department of Homeland Security. Link.\nKokomo Link to photos\nThe damage in Kokomo was indiscriminate, hitting houses and businesses.\u00a0 In some neighborhoods, homes with little damage stood next to homes that were nearly destroyed.\u00a0 One home was ripped from its foundation with water pipes spraying uncontrollably in what was once a basement.\u00a0 Kokomo appears to have been the hardest hit community.\nLafayette Link to photos\nIn Lafayette, Rokita visited Southwestern Middle School, Subaru Indiana, and Voestalpine.\u00a0 Southwestern Middle School and Voestalpine were in shambles.\u00a0 Local officials pledge to get students back in classrooms as quickly as possible.
