Representative Todd Rokita (IN-04) issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3762, the Restoring Americans Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act:\nThis bill is an opportunity to end one of the biggest lies ever told to the American people, the lie being, if you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Getting this reconciliation package to the Presidents desk is a true step forward to correcting that lie and ending government-controlled health care in this country. We have seen the evidence that moving health care away from government bureaucrats to private individuals will grow the economy and still provide coverage for millions of Americans who need insurance. It is time we put Americans back in charge of their own healthcare.\nI thank Chairman Price and my fellow members of the Budget Committee for helping to move this bill forward. I urge the Senate to come together to ensure we can get this bill to the Presidents desk, said Rep. Rokita.\nThe bill now awaits action in the Senate, where the Senate can either consider the House-passed reconciliation bill or a Senate version. In the Senate, a reconciliation bill is filibuster-proof, requiring only a simple majority (51 votes) to pass.
