Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, made the following statement regarding the International Atomic Energy Agencys (IAEA) Final Assessment on Past and Present Outstanding Issues Regarding Irans Nuclear Programme. Statement by Ros-Lehtinen:\nIf the administration is willing to go forward with sanctions relief after receiving the IAEAs latest report noting unresolved queries, then it is abundantly clear that it has no intention of holding Iran accountable and wont have the political will to report Iranian violations of the JCPOA. \nThe IAEA report regarding the possible military dimension of Irans nuclear program proves Iran lied in the past about the nature of its nuclear program. From day one, Iran has insisted its program has always been peaceful in nature but this report proves without a doubt that Iran has been lying to the world and the IAEA. This report also proves that Iran, even after the JCPOA was agreed, continues to stonewall and mislead the IAEA regarding questions of the possible military dimension of its past nuclear work. Are we to believe that the regime will be more forthcoming with the IAEA, P5+1 and the international community after it gets the sanctions relief it desperately needs, or is this just a harbinger of things to come?\nWe clearly still dont have the full picture of Irans previous nuclear work and Iran has not demonstrated nearly enough to warrant any easing of sanctions. If anything, this report should trigger increased scrutiny on Irans nuclear program and the U.S. and responsible nations must reinstate and fully implement all sanctions against the regime for its failure to honor any of its obligations, its repeated lying regarding its past nuclear work, and its continued work on an illicit nuclear program.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://ros-lehtinen.house.gov/press-release/iaea-report-possible-military-dimension-iran%E2%80%99s-nuclear-program-proves-iran-has-long"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.806784886866808, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
