Their creativity, innovation, and skills were fully on display this year and it was difficult to pick a winner from all of these excellent submissions.\u201d\u00a0 \nMiami, FL \u2013 U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-27) has announced the winner and runners up of the Congressional App Challenge for her Congressional district.\u00a0 The App challenge, which promotes education in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields, is designed to spur innovation and reward creativity among young men and women in South Florida and throughout the nation. The winners and runners-up are:\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 District winner: Vicki Rios,\u00a0Simple Sig\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Second place finisher:\u00a0 Kamya Rucker,\u00a0Animal Protection\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Third place finisher: Norlen Nunez,\u00a0PTP (Periodic Table Program)\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Honorable mentions: Christian Harrison, David Gutierrez, Jorge Pla, Roberto Diaz, and Gabriela Martinez\nThe FL-27 winner and runners up were selected by an independent board of experts. Ms. Rios will have the opportunity to travel to Washington, DC, participate in an award ceremony, and present her app to Members of Congress as well as industry leaders.\nStatement by Rep.
