Rush (D-Ill.) released the following statement regarding the death of Illinois Comptroller, The Honorable Judy Baar Topinka:
“Today is a sad day for Illinois and all those who had the privilege to know Judy. From her service in the General Assembly, her role as Illinois’ first female Treasurer and ultimately her service as Illinois Comptroller, Judy was a fierce and dedicated public servant who always put the interests of Illinois and Illinoisans before her own.
“This loss is personal for me and my family as well. We were proud to call Judy a friend and, in my wife Carolyn’s case, boss.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Judy’s son, Joe, daughter-in-law Christina, granddaughter Alexandra and all of her family, friends and devoted staff.”
###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at
url
http://rush.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/statement-of-congressman-bobby-l-rush-on-the-passing-of-illinois
