{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://sablan.house.gov/press-release/doing-more-make-sure-local-workers-get-jobs", "Doing more to make sure local workers get jobs", "2013-09-30", "2013", "2013-09", "Independent", "Senate", "MP", "Gregorio Sablan", "S001177", "sablan.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Doing more to make sure local workers get jobs                                           \n              Sep 30, 2013      \t\t        \t    \n      \t            \n                    \n                                            \n          \n        \n        \n            \n    \n  \n    \n    \n    I have asked for an update on efforts by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to step up investigation of employers alleged to be hiring CW workers while turning away U.S. workers who are qualified for jobs.\u00a0 USCIS announced last year that it would do more to make sure local workers get the preference required by law.\u00a0 In my letter to USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas, I requested information on how many investigations there have been, how many employers found at fault, and what action was taken against them.\u00a0 I also asked for his evaluation of the effectiveness of these measures and ideas on what more can be done to ensure employer compliance with the requirements to hire U.S. workers first.\u00a0 Taking action to protect U.S. workers is especially critical now, as the Secretary of Labor deliberates on whether or not to extend the CW program beyond December 31, 2014.\u00a0 The grant of an extension should not be an excuse to reduce efforts to assure that qualified U.S. workers are hired.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://sablan.house.gov/press-release/doing-more-make-sure-local-workers-get-jobs"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.270508160814643, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
