House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) today issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 692, the Default Prevention Act.\n\tAs the debt limit approaches, the Default Prevention Act removes from the table the threat of defaulting on our nations debt, and instead allows Congress to focus on solving the underlying issue driving our growing debt  Washingtons spending problem, Scalise said. Reining in Washingtons out-of-control spending and restoring fiscal sanity continues to be among my top priorities in Congress. I applaud and thank Congressman Tom McClintock for his leadership on this issue.
