This years theme is, An Artistic Discovery: Portraits of the 7th Congressional District.\nEach year, the competition features pieces from students enrolled at high schools around the 7th Congressional District. Rep. Sewell will announce this years winner at a reception immediately following final judging for this years finalists.\nEach year, the Congressional Art Competition serves as a platform for high school students across the 7th Congressional District to highlight their artistic talents. I am extremely proud of this years contestants, and its inspiring to witness their creativity and raw talent. It is critically important that we create opportunities that encourage and uplift the individual gifts of our children. I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center in Tuscaloosa to showcase each students artwork, said Rep. The CAC houses the Alabama Power Grand Hall and The Rotary Club of Tuscaloosa Black Box Theatre which provides a location for performances up to 250 people. In addition, the CAC includes a satellite office for The Arts Council and the public offices for Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and Tuscaloosa Community Dancers.
