{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://shimkus.house.gov//media-center/press-releases/shimkus-urges-obama-to-reconsider-executive-action-on-immigration-reform", "Shimkus Urges Obama to Reconsider Executive Action on Immigration Reform", "2014-11-19", "2014", "2014-11", "Republican", "House", "IL", "John Shimkus", "S000364", "shimkus.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "WASHINGTON \u2013\u00a0Congressman John Shimkus (R-Illinois-15) joined over two dozen Members of Congress in a letter to President Obama expressing concern about the Administration\u2019s plan to take executive action on immigration reform.\n\u201cWhile Congress certainly understands the need for reforms to the current system, it is imperative that we work together to pass legislation that improves our immigration system, increases border security and disincentivizes undocumented immigrants from illegally entering the United States,\u201d the Members wrote. \u201cAny unilateral action taken by the Administration will impede our efforts.\u201d\nAs the White House prepares to take unilateral action by week\u2019s end, the letter also reminds President Obama of the promise he made to Republican and Democrat leaders in Congress the day after the election. Speaking from the East Room that day, the President claimed he was \u201ceager to see what they have to offer\u201d and \u201cto find out how it is that they want to proceed.\u201d\n\u201cIt didn\u2019t even take President Obama two weeks to break his promise to work with Congress,\u201d said Shimkus. \u201cHow can we work with someone who says he\u2019ll do one thing, and then goes and does the complete opposite?
