Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) cosponsored and voted for H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which authorizes individuals with a valid permit to carry a concealed firearm to carry in another state, as long as they are in accordance with that state\u2019s laws.  \u201cLaw abiding citizens protecting themselves should not have to forfeit their constitutional rights at state lines,\u201d said Congressman Bill Shuster. \u201cThis is commonsense legislation that strengthens and protects second amendment rights and is long overdue.\u201d  In addition, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act also directs the Bureau of Justice Statistics to report to Congress within 180 days statistics and information on bump stock use in the United States, and strengthens the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to ensure federal and state authorities are complying with existing law and reporting criminal histories to the NICS.  # # #", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://shuster.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=49&itemid=878"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 2.0379070192575455, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
