{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://simpson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=351681", "House Passes Bill to Keep Government Open, Delays Obamacare", "2013-09-28", "2013", "2013-09", "Republican", "House", "ID", "Mike Simpson", "S001148", "simpson.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson today voted in favor of legislation that would extend government funding at post-sequestration levels through December 15th\u00a0and delay the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as\u00a0Obamacare, for one year. \r\n\u00a0\u201cCongress\u00a0must do everything we can\u00a0to avoid a government shutdown,\u201d Simpson said. \u00a0\u00a0\u201cThis bill\u00a0meets our obligation to keep the government functioning, and to be responsive to our constituents, who have made it very clear that they do not want to see\u00a0Obamacare\u00a0go into effect on October 1st. \u00a0I hope the Senate acts quickly\u2014as the House has done\u2014in order to meet those obligations as well.\u201d\r\nThe House approved two amendments to the CR that it received from the Senate\u00a0today. The\u00a0first adds a permanent repeal of the onerous\u00a02.3% excise tax on medical devices like\u00a0pacemakers, CT scan machines, and defibrillators and passed the House by a vote of 248-174. The second amendment adds a one-year delay of\u00a0Obamacare, this passed the House by a vote of 231-192. \u00a0\r\n\u201cThe one year delay in\u00a0Obamacare\u00a0just makes sense,\u201d said Simpson. \u201cPresident Obama\u2019s own administration has recommended delaying large portions of it already; acknowledging that full implementation\u00a0now will be damaging to our economy.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\r\nThe House also passed, and Congressman Simpson supported, H.R. 3210, the Pay Our Military Act, which will ensure\u00a0that members\u00a0of the Armed Forces continue to receive their pay until enactment of a Continuing Resolution or regular appropriations bill providing for such payments is passed.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://simpson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=351681"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.6544459611177444, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
