{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://simpson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=397540", "Simpson Continues Fight Against Obama Water Grab", "2014-10-03", "2014", "2014-10", "Republican", "House", "ID", "Mike Simpson", "S001148", "simpson.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson today expressed continued opposition to the Environmental Protection Agency\u2019s (EPA) proposed rule to expand federal jurisdiction over water.\u00a0 This week the Small Business Administration expressed \u201cdeep concern\u201d in a letter to the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about the impact of the rule on agriculture and other small businesses.\u00a0 The letter echoed Simpson\u2019s call to withdraw the rule.\r\n\u201cI have long expressed concern about the negative impact that the EPA\u2019s attempted water grab would have on agriculture in Idaho.\u00a0 Unfortunately, we are now seeing these predictions play out,\u201d said Simpson.\u00a0 \u201cThe more this rule is analyzed, the more ridiculous the EPA\u2019s claims that it won\u2019t negatively affect agriculture and other industries become.\u00a0 With the SBA weighing in that the rule would have \u2018direct and significant impact on small businesses,\u2019 it\u2019s time to renew the call to withdraw this rule.\u201d\r\nThis week Simpson joined colleagues in other dairy states in sending a letter to the EPA, the Corps, and USDA expressing concern about the impact that the rule would have on the dairy industry, among others.\u00a0 He crafted language in both the FY15 House Interior and Environment Appropriations bill and the FY15 House Energy and Water Appropriations bill to prevent the rule from moving forward.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://simpson.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=397540"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.9872945956885815, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
