Current law restricts the use of federal funding for abortion services, except in the extreme circumstances of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother. H.R. 7 goes further by restricting women from using private dollars to purchase private insurance for comprehensive health coverage, including reproductive care.\n\u201cThis bill drastically undermines a woman\u2019s constitutional right to choose, and effectively eliminates access to reproductive care for low-income women across the country,\u201d said Titus. \u201cIt also hurts small businesses finally starting to recover from the Great Recession by raising taxes on those employers who offer female employees comprehensive health insurance.\n\u201cRepublicans have repeatedly demonstrated a lack of understanding about basic women\u2019s healthcare, and this bill is one more example of their continuing attack on a woman\u2019s right to make the best decision for herself, her health, and her family,\u201d continued Titus. \u201cIt is nothing more than an attempt by House Republicans to distract from the critical work that needs to be done to create jobs, invest in infrastructure, and strengthen the middle-class.
