{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://visclosky.house.gov/press-release/visclosky-announces-2301379-valparaiso-university", "Visclosky Announces $2,301,379 for Valparaiso University", "2013-09-20", "2013", "2013-09", "Democrat", "House", "IN", "Peter Visclosky", "V000108", "visclosky.house.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Valparaiso, IN \u2013 Congressman Visclosky announced that Valparaiso University was awarded a $2,301,379 grant through the Advanced Research Projects Agency \u2013 Energy (ARPA-E) at the U.S. Department of Energy.\nThe award will enable energy efficient, lightweight metals manufacturing by incorporating solar technologies in a metals production process. \u00a0More specifically, this technology will provide the College of Engineering faculty and students the opportunity to develop a unique electrochemical cell that produces magnesium using solar-thermal energy in their metals separation process, which could potentially reduce carbon dioxide emissions and electricity consumption associated with current metals manufacturing. \u00a0\n\u201cI am proud of Valparaiso University for being at the forefront of innovation in energy research,\u201d Congressman Visclosky said. \u201cIt is my hope that their advancements in cutting-edge solar technologies will promote the use of American renewable energy for generations to come.\u201d \u00a0\n\u201cWith this funding from the Department of Energy, Valpo faculty and students will push forward the energy science frontier by exploring new methods for using solar energy,\u201d Valparaiso University President Mark A. Heckler, Ph.D., said. \u201cThe research conducted at the James S.
