{"database": "press", "table": "releases", "rows": [["http://www.brown.senate.gov/newsroom/press/release/brown-statement-on-reports-of-potential-spending-bill-provision-that-would-delay-regulation-of-derivatives-market", "Brown Statement on Reports of Potential Spending Bill Provision that would Delay Regulation of Derivatives Market", "2014-12-05", "2014", "2014-12", "Democrat", "House", "OH", "Sherrod Brown", "B000944", "www.brown.senate.gov", null, null, "legacy", "Friday, December 5, 2014\n            \n\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\tWASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 Following a report that Wall Street lobbyists are seeking to add a provision in a year-end spending bill to delay regulation of risky derivatives, U.S. Sen Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement:\r\n\u201cMillions of Americans lost their jobs, their homes, and their retirement savings due to risky Wall Street gambling,\u201d Brown said. \u201cWe cannot allow Wall Street banks to add any provisions to the year-end spending bill that would continue to leave taxpayers on the hook and undermine the ability of regulators to prevent future bailouts.\u201d\r\nFollowing the financial crisis, Congress passed a provision in the Wall Street Reform Act that would end government insurance of risky Wall Street derivatives trading.
