Senator Cardin recently cosponsored a resolution (S. Res. 548), which designated November 29, 2014 as \u201cSmall Business Saturday\u201d.\r\n\u00a0\r\n\u201cSmall Business Saturday gives Americans the chance to support small, independently owned businesses that drive our local economy and create jobs. Buying local makes a real difference,\u201d said Senator Cardin. \u201cWe have more than a half-million small businesses right here in Maryland. This Small Business Saturday, make a choice to \u2018Shop Small\u2019 or \u2018Dine Small\u2019 \u2013 support our local stores and dine in local restaurants \u2013 to give a helping hand to the very businesses that employ our neighbors and keep our local economy growing.\u201d\r\n\u00a0\r\nThere are 28,000,000 small businesses in the United States that are responsible for the employment of over 48 percent of private sector employees. By designating November 29, 2014 as Small Business Saturday, Congress is encouraging shoppers to increase the number of purchases made from these local businesses, increasing the benefit to our local communities.\r\n\u00a0\r\nFor more information on Small Business Saturday, click here.
