Mary Silverthorn of Beulah, Sarah Strube of Dickinson, Samuel Swanson of Bismarck and Emily Kovacs of St. Paul interned in Hoevens Washington, D.C. office. Quinn Harmon of Minot interned in Hoevens Bismarck office and Aaron Weber of Wishek was based in Hoevens Fargo office. The interns have worked with the senator and his staff on legislative, communications and administrative projects.\r\nInternships are a great opportunity to gain professional experience while also getting a first-hand look at the legislative process, Hoeven said. We hope the skills these young people have learned will help them achieve their educational and career goals. My staff and I thank this group of interns for all of their hard work during the past few months, and appreciate their enthusiasm and willingness to become involved in public service.\r\nEmily Kovacs, daughter of James and Julie Kallestad, is in her last year of pharmacy school at North Dakota State University (NDSU). Emily is planning to graduate in May.\r\nMary Silverthorn, daughter of Roger and Sue Silverthorn, is a junior at the University of Minnesota. She is pursuing a degree in political science and business management.\r\nSarah Strube, daughter of Beth Ehlis of Dickinson and Ernie Strube of Mayville, is studying business economics and political science at the University of North Dakota (UND).\r\nSamuel Swanson is the son of Thomas and Karen Swanson, and is a recent graduate of Concordia College, where he triple majored in political science, global studies with a concentration in Latin American studies and Spanish. After the internship, Samuel hopes to stay in Washington and work in the Capitol where he can learn more about the legislative process.\r\nQuinn Harmon, daughter of Kevin and Leisa Harmon, is a junior at the University of Mary where she is majoring in public policy. At the University of Mary, Quinn serves as a Student Senator on the student government and is a member of the Pre-Law Club. She also competed for the Track and Field team for the past two years. Quinn plans to attend law school after she graduates in 2016.\r\nAaron Weber, son of Jim and Mary Ann Weber, is a 2013 graduate of Wishek High School and is in his junior year at NDSU. There he studies agriculture communications with hopes of attending law school or graduate school. While at NDSU, Aaron has been involved with Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Student Government, North Dakota Student Association, and North Dakota College Republicans, where he serves as President.\r\nSenator Hoeven offers internship opportunities in his Washington, D.C. and state offices.
