The creation of the National Cyber Director and the inclusion of two dozen of our Solarium recommendations in this year's defense bill is great news. We've got a lot more work to do, but this is real progress today.\"\r\nBackground:\r\nThrough Sen. Sasse's legislativeinitiative, the Cyberspace Solarium Commission was signed into law as part of the 2019 National Defense Authorization Act. Sen. Sasse was appointed to serve on the Commission, which officially launched in April 2019. In March 2020, the Commissionreleasedtheir finished report.\nOf the 26 recommendations adopted in this year's NDAA, a number of provisions were led by Sen. Sasse and Sen. King, the Co-Chairs of the Commission:\n\r\n \r\nEstablishment of the National Cyber Director and the Office of the National Cyber Director within the Executive Office of the President to serve in a Senate-confirmed capacity as the President's principal cyber advisor and provide a nexus for cybersecurity leadership in the White House.\n\r\nCreation and maintenance of a Continuity of the Economy Plan to ensure the rapidreboot of national critical functions of the economy following a catastrophic cyberattack.\r\nSeveral recommendations to strengthen the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency including the establishment of a Joint Cyber Planning Officeto facilitate comprehensive planning of defensive cybersecurity campaigns and the review of federalcybersecurity centers for integration within CISA.", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://www.sasse.senate.gov//public/index.cfm/press-releases?ContentRecord_id=64E521BE-115F-46EE-AC1F-D72CBCF4EBAD"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 1.5768827870488167, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
