Markey (D-MA), along with Representatives Stephen F. Lynch\r\n(D-MA-08), William Keating (D-MA-09), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA-07) and Lori Trahan\r\n(D-MA-03), today announced that YouthBuild Programs in Lowell, New Bedford and\r\nBoston will receive a total of $3,355,895 in grants from the U.S. Department of\r\nLabor (DOL). The grants will support programs that help young people learn occupational\r\nskills in construction, health care, information technology, and hospitality.\r\nYouthBuild participants assist with building or rehabilitating affordable\r\nhousing in their communities while receiving educational support and training as\r\nthey complete their high school degrees or equivalent. The DOL's grants include: \r\n $1,440,000 to Community Teamwork Inc. (Lowell, MA) \r\n $1,102,295 to People Acting in Community Endeavors Inc.\r\n     (New Bedford, MA)\r\n $813,600 to YouthBuild Boston (Boston, MA)\r\n \"All our kids deserve a chance to succeed, and that includes getting a\r\nhigh-quality education and receiving needed job training,\" said\r\nSenator Warren. \"It is great to see YouthBuild programs in\r\nMassachusetts receive this funding, and I am going to keep fighting in Congress\r\nfor more federal resources to give all of our kids access to programs that help\r\nthem get ahead.\" \"Kids are 20% of our population, but 100% of our future, and we owe it\r\nto provide them the best education, the most relevant job skills, and the brightest\r\nof outlooks to build their futures,\" said Senator Markey.\r\n\"These YouthBuild grants will do just that -- help build bright futures\r\nfor youth in the Lowell, New Bedford, and Boston areas.
