Today, only20%\r\nof Americans trust the government \"to do the right thing.\" Originallyintroduced\r\nin 2018 as the most ambitious anti-corruption legislation since Watergate,\r\nthe Anti-Corruption & Public Integrity Act of 2020 includes\r\nadditional reforms to the country's campaign finance laws. The bill also\r\nincludes new provisions to ban members of Congress from serving on corporate\r\nboards, to establish new ethics accountability for Supreme Court justices, and\r\nto overhaul the nation's campaign finance laws. The legislation also\r\nstrengthens provisions to ban members of Congress, federal judges, and other senior\r\nfederal officials from owning or trading individual stock. \"After nearly four years of the most corrupt president in American\r\nhistory and with U.S. senators brazenly trading stocks to profit off a raging\r\npandemic, the Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act is more urgent\r\nthan ever in order to rein in corruption, strengthen ethics, end lobbying as we\r\nknow it, improve the integrity of our judiciary, reform campaign finance laws\r\nand finally ensure that we put people over profits and communities over corporations,\"\r\nsaid Senator Warren and Congresswoman Jayapal. \"The\r\nAnti-Corruption & Public Integrity Act is about making government work\r\nfor everyone -- not just the rich and powerful -- and restoring Americans'\r\nfaith in government.\" Senator Warren and Congresswoman Jayapal's legislation contains seven big\r\nideas: \r\n Lock the Revolving Door\r\n     and Increase Public Integrity by eliminating both the appearance and the potential\r\n     for financial conflicts of interest; and instituting a\r\n     lifetime ban on lobbying by former members of Congress, Presidents, and\r\n     agency heads.\r\n End Corporate Capture of\r\n     Public Interest Rules by requiring disclosure of funding or editorial\r\n     conflicts of interest in rulemaking comments and studies; closing\r\n     loopholes corporations exploit to tilt the rules in their favor and\r\n     against the public interest; protecting agencies from corporate capture;\r\n     establishing a new Office of the Public Advocate to advocate for the\r\n     public interest in the rulemaking process; and giving agencies the tools\r\n     to implement strong rules that protect the public.\r\n Improve Judicial\r\n     Integrity and Defend Access to Justice for All Americans by strengthening ethics\r\n     requirements for judges and requiring the Supreme Court follow the ethics\r\n     rules for all other federal judges; enhancing accountability for judges\r\n     who engage in misconduct; boosting the transparency of federal courts\r\n     through live streaming audio of federal appellate court proceedings and\r\n     providing the public access to case information free of charge; reducing\r\n     barriers that prevent Americans from having their day in court; and\r\n     encouraging diversity on the federal bench.\r\n Strengthen Enforcement\r\n     of Ethics Rules by\r\n     creating a new, independent anti-corruption agency dedicated to enforcing\r\n     federal ethics laws and by expanding an independent and empowered Congressional\r\n     ethics office insulated from Congressional politics.\r\n Boost Transparency in\r\n     Government and Fix Federal Open Records Laws by requiring elected\r\n     officials and candidates for federal office to disclose more financial and\r\n     tax information; increasing disclosure of corporate money behind\r\n     Washington lobbying; closing loopholes in federal open records laws;\r\n     making federal contractors -- including private prisons and immigration\r\n     detention centers -- comply with federal open records laws; and making Congress\r\n     more transparent.\r\n Reform the Country's\r\n     Campaign Finance Laws to Get Big Money out of Politics by ending the corrupt\r\n     system of money for influence; disrupting the system of dark money for\r\n     influence that allows the wealthy, well-connected, and foreign actors to\r\n     tilt the political process in their favor; empowering ordinary people\r\n     through a small-dollar public financing system that gives candidates an\r\n     incentive to spend more time courting working people, rather than just big\r\n     donors;
