Yoder\u2019s remarks, as prepared for delivery:\n\u201cMr. Speaker, I rise today as a proud Jayhawk to recognize a great leader for our state who\u2019s made a positive impact on the lives of many Kansans \u2013 KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little.\n\u201cLast week, Chancellor Gray-Little announced her retirement in 2017, and I wanted to recognize some of the major accomplishments during her tenure at KU. \n\u201cFrom day one, she set aggressive goals through her Bold Aspirations initiative to advance the university into the 21st Century as a leader in education and research. \n\u201cIt was a great success, leading to KU being designated as a National Cancer Institute (NCI) and working towards a Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. \n\u201cThe KU Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Center also received national designation from the National Institute on Aging.\n\u201cAnd as someone who utilized both student loans and Pell grants, I was greatly appreciative of her vocal support for those programs that help every student achieve their dreams, regardless of income level. \n\u201cToday, on behalf of the United States Congress, I would like to thank Chancellor Gray-Little for her leadership and service to our beloved Jayhawk community and wish her and her husband Shade well in their next endeavors. \n\u201cRock Chalk, Chancellor!\u201d\nTo watch a video of the remarks, click here.\n###", 1, "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z", "2026-03-30T12:14:52Z"]], "columns": ["url", "title", "date", "year", "month", "party", "chamber", "state", "member_name", "bioguide_id", "domain", "scraper", "source", "date_source", "text", "has_text", "collected_at", "updated_at"], "primary_keys": ["url"], "primary_key_values": ["http://yoder.house.gov/media-center/press-releases/video-rep-yoder-congratulates-ku-chancellor-gray-little-on-retirement"], "units": {}, "query_ms": 0.8861881215125322, "source": "dwillis/congress-press", "source_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press", "license": "MIT", "license_url": "https://github.com/dwillis/congress-press/blob/main/LICENSE"}
