Their app called “CLICK” assists users in limiting their time on social media by redirecting the user to more productive tasks based on their interests and needs. “I’m excited to announce that Sai, Annabel, Owen, and Dorothy—students at Stanton College Preparatory School in Jacksonville—are the winners of this year’s Congressional App Challenge! Their innovative thinking, creativity, and teamwork illustrate the bright future of technology in Northeast Florida. I’m proud of their hard work, and want them to keep coding and dreaming big,” said Congressman Bean. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The students were motivated by the increased usage of social media by young adults aged 13-17, which studies show leads to body image issues, cyberbullying, difficulty sleeping, and emotional withdrawal. The app was created in Android Studio, drafted in HTML and CSS on Replit, and the students conducted surveys of their peers to determine whether the app would be helpful or not. The CAC highlights the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education allowing students to hone their coding and technology skills. Middle and high school students from the Fourth District are eligible to compete in this annual competition. This year’s winners will have their app displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building, featured online via the House of Representative’s website, and will be invited to a celebratory reception on Capitol Hill in honor of their achievement. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

"The Bipartisan FISHES Act" is broadly-supported, bipartisan legislation to improve the federal regulatory process associated with the allocation of fishery disaster relief. Specifically, this commonsense and solutions-oriented bill seeks to expedite the distribution of federal disaster relief following official fishery disaster declarations–which the State of Florida has requested seven times since 2012. H.R. 5103 is the twenty-sixth piece of legislation sponsored by Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) that passed the U.S. House of Representatives during the 118th Congress. The legislation has received the support of 160 endorsing entities including 107 organizations, and fifty-two members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) is the sponsor of "The Bipartisan FISHES Act" Senate companion bill. “For years, fishery disaster determinations across our nation have been left pending due to bureaucratic inaction,” said Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL). “This includes the catastrophic devastation caused by Hurricane Ian in our Southwest Florida community. This is a national problem; this is wrong; this must change; and this is why I introduced ‘The FISHES Act’ alongside Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) to expedite fishery disaster relief to communities in need. Thank you to my colleagues in the United States Senate for advancing this critical legislation to the President’s desk. Government must put the American people first and I am proud to stand-up for coastal communities across our nation.” “Floridians know better than anyone that when disaster strikes, families and small businesses can’t be left wondering whether the federal government is going to show up," said Senator Rick Scott (R-FL). Kathy Castor (FL-14) announced today that her team worked to deliver over $10.1 million in aid, benefits and refunds to veterans, seniors, small businesses, and families in 2024. In addition, $1,469,469,742 in federal grants were secured for the community for investments in education, infrastructure, good-paying jobs, safer neighborhoods, and cleaner, cheaper energy. Castor credits her team, local partners and nonprofits in helping win such significant federal investments for the Tampa Bay area. “Collaboration and teamwork are key to making progress for Tampa Bay. My congressional constituent services team works tirelessly to cut through red tape on behalf of families, veterans, and businesses. In a year with unprecedented challenges due to the hurricanes, our neighbors needed our team to assist them more than ever. I am grateful for all that Steven Angotti, Tania Fernandez, Damaris Gonzalez and Sean Saintil – as well as the entire Castor Team – did this year. I could not be prouder of my dedicated casework team that went above and beyond to help Tampa Bay families rebuild and navigate FEMA and Small Business disaster assistance. Their expertise and compassion are critical to ensuring that families and small businesses can thrive, that our Veterans receive the benefits they have earned and that Social Security and Medicare benefits are delivered on time. “The growing Tampa Bay area continues to reap the benefits of federal investments, thanks to the historic Infrastructure law, Inflation Reduction Act and the work of Biden-Harris Administration – and we need it. A record 386 federal grants were awarded across the Tampa Bay area in 2024 including, but not limited to, critical investments for the Tampa International Airport and Port Tampa Bay, cost-saving electric school busses, job trainings and expanded health care services. His historic decision to pardon those with low-level marijuana offenses and grant more sentence reductions than any other president in recent history sends a powerful message that America must deliver on its promise of a fair and just society. “The stark reality is that the death penalty has often been unfairly given to marginalized communities, highlighting the systemic problems in our justice system. In Florida alone, 34 people have been cleared from death row since 1973. Of these individuals, more than half were people of color. These aren’t just numbers; they represent lives deeply devastated by a flawed system that can be prone to mistakes. “The risk of wrongful convictions due to incorrect eyewitness accounts, racial bias, and unreliable forensic evidence is too great. Each case represents a potential tragedy, often impacting the most vulnerable among us. “We cannot remain silent in the face of such a serious moral issue. No American should have their life taken from them due to errors in the justice system. We must end the federal death penalty and create a society that focuses on rehabilitation rather than retribution.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

Currently, the 2023 redesignation is set to expire on April 2, 2025, and the 2021 extension is set to expire on September 10, 2025. “Political instability, endemic corruption, and repression under Maduro’s authoritarian regime has led to massive food and medicine shortages, with millions living in poverty and suffering from food insecurity. Venezuela’s economy has contracted by more than 80% since 2014, which is more than twice the magnitude of the Great Depression in the United States,” wrote the Members. “Due to the ongoing crisis in Venezuela, Venezuelans have consistently been the leading nationality requesting asylum in the United States since 2016. As of June 2023, U.N. agencies believe that over 7.3 million Venezuelans have fled the country, many of whom have resettled in neighboring countries like Colombia and Brazil.” “The number of displaced individuals from Venezuela only continues to grow after the undemocratic and fraudulent elections held on July 28, 2024. The United States and many other countries have rightfully rejected Maduro’s false claims of victory, noting that these results were ‘deeply flawed, yielding an announced outcome that does not represent the will of the Venezuelan people,’ and recognized opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia as president-elect,” continued the Members. “The United States has imposed targeted sanctions in response to the Maduro regime’s brutal repression…” “Given Venezuela’s increased instability and lack of safety, and within all applicable rules and regulations, we strongly urge your full and fair consideration of an early extension and redesignation of Venezuela for TPS to ensure stability and certainty of the program. The Decentralizing and Re-organizing Agency Infrastructure Nationwide To Harness Efficient Services, Workforce Administration, and Management Practices (DRAIN THE SWAMP) Act would require nearly a third of workers to relocate outside the beltway. Upon introduction, Congressman Bean said, “The swamp is thick and deep here in Crazy Town, and I’m here to drain it. It is time to remind Washington that our duty is to serve the American people. I’m proud to join Senator Ernst to ensure the government works for the people, not the other way around.” Senator Ernst said, “My investigations have exposed how bureaucrats have been doing just about everything besides their job during the workday. Federal employees have shown they don’t want to work in Washington, and in the Christmas spirit, I am making their wish come true. Instead of keeping them bogged down in the swamp, I’m working to get bureaucrats beyond the D.C. beltway to remind public servants who they work for. In addition to improving government service for all Americans, we can give taxpayers an extra Christmas gift by selling off unused and expensive office buildings.” BACKGROUND The DRAIN THE SWAMP Act would authorize the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to relocate 30% of federal agency staff to places other than the metropolitan area surrounding Washington, D.C. The rest of the federal workers remaining around the capital would be required to work in person 100% of the time. Additionally, the OMB would further be directed to work to sell the unnecessary office space created by the relocations. ### 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

I commend Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership in navigating tough negotiations to keep our government open and ensure President-elect Trump can hit the ground running come January 20th. I also applaud my fellow Floridian, Congressman Scott Franklin, a member of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Appropriations, for achieving what others have long struggled to do: securing vital support for Florida farmers. While I would have preferred committees to pass their own bills through the Chamber rather than tack it on to a vital appropriations bill, when considering my district, the State of Florida, and our national security overall, the benefits far outweigh the critiques. This bill provides disaster relief funding for Florida and other disaster-stricken states. Additionally, it includes specific language encouraging a block grant program for citrus under the Trump administration that will revitalize the state's already struggling citrus industry. Continuing resolutions are far from ideal, but this measure ensures President Trump has a say in shaping the final funding bills for fiscal year 2025. As we prepare for President Trump's swearing-in, we are laying the groundwork to advance his America First agenda–lowering costs, unleashing American energy independence and dominance, and, most importantly, securing our borders to protect Americans." 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

Denying pay to our troops, TSA workers, and millions of Americans who depend on government services is inexcusable. Democrats have always stood ready to find common ground and work with our Republican colleagues to deliver for the American people. Today proves that commitment. Then House Republicans, taking their marching orders from Elon Musk, threw it all away to push us to the brink of a shutdown. I'm deeply disappointed this bill stripped out critical measures like the Haitian Economic Lift Program and proposals to ease everyday costs for working families. House Republicans have caused too many delays and diversions as families, small businesses and communities grapple with rebuilding after the devastating hurricanes. We have been waiting for months for Republicans to act,” said Rep. Notecandy was designed to accommodate each of these styles of learning for students as they take notes in class. Eesh was selected as the winner by a panel of IT specialists from the Northeast Florida community. “On behalf of Florida’s Fifth Congressional District, I am proud to host the annual Congressional App Challenge and encourage our students to pursue a future in STEM,” said Rutherford. “With his app, Eesh shows an impressive ability to combine creativity with the mechanics needed to create applications aimed at supporting others. I wish him well as he continues to exercise his talent and strive for excellence." The app will be featured on the Congressional App Challenge website and is eligible to be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, alongside other national winners. The Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide competition designed to encourage student participation, providing an opportunity to develop valuable technical skills in computer science and coding regardless of prior experience. The bill would impose civil penalties on CCP-affiliated shippers – including any vessel owned, operated, or leased by a PRC entity - that are involved in trafficking materials used in the production of fentanyl to the United States. This legislation is part of a package of three bipartisan bills originating from the Select Committee on Communist China’s Fentanyl Working Group to stop the CCP from fueling America’s opioid epidemic. “For far too long, the CCP has been targeting American civilians by intentionally fueling our country’s opioid epidemic to undermine our nation’s health,” said Congressman Dunn. “We must take swift action to protect the American public and hold the CCP accountable for their brazen and unacceptable practices. Specifically, this legislation would: Require PRC shippers involved in the fentanyl trade to meet USG-defined standards for declaring fentanyl precursors. The hearing comes as the USCG continues to delay the production of the icebreaker fleet. The first Polar Security Cutter was slated to be operational in 2024, however the delays now have the cutter being operational, at the earliest, in 2030 and with costs being significantly more than originally anticipated. Designs for the cutter have yet to be finalized since the start of the PSC program in 2018. Watch a clip from the hearing HERE. See below for Congressman Gimenez's opening statement as prepared for delivery: Today, we are reviewing the progress—or lack thereof—of the Coast Guard’s Polar Security Cutter program and discussing strategies to ensure the successful completion of this vital acquisition effort. This issue is of paramount importance—the United States must be able to operate effectively in the Arctic to safeguard our nation's security and strategic interests in this rapidly changing region. While the Arctic has long been a region of immense importance, it has recently become a key arena for geopolitical competition. As the ice retreats, new opportunities and challenges emerge such as rising shipping traffic, untapped natural resources, and shifting national security dynamics. Nations around the globe are positioning themselves to capitalize on these immense opportunities. Of most concern are adversarial nations to the United States. For example, the People's Republic of China, which continues to pursue its self-declared "near-Arctic" ambitions, is rapidly expanding its icebreaker fleet to bolster its influence in the region. Recent reports indicate that China currently operates four icebreakers, with a fifth, named Jidi, which translates to “Polar” in English, under construction and expect… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

Kathy Castor (FL-14) applauded the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) new Junk Fees Rule, which eliminates hidden fees on live-event tickets and short-term lodging, saving American consumers significant time and money. The rule brings transparency to pricing by requiring businesses to disclose the full price upfront, making it easier for families to budget and compare options. “Families shouldn’t have to play a guessing game when planning a night out or a trip. Sneaky hidden fees are a burden. They drive up costs and leave families frustrated at checkout. This new rule ensures that the price you see for concert tickets and hotel stays is the price you pay—no hidden fees, no surprises,” said Rep. Castor. “The FTC junk fee rule mirrors legislation I led to reign in out-of-control Junk Fees and lower costs. It’s about fairness, transparency and saving hardworking families both time and money so they can focus on making memories together, not worrying about unexpected charges.” The FTC estimates that the Junk Fees Rule will save consumers up to $11 billion over the next decade by eliminating unnecessary fees and wasted time spent searching for accurate prices. The rule targets misleading “resort fees,” “service fees” and other hidden charges in the live-event ticketing and lodging industries, ensuring that pricing is transparent, honest and upfront. Young Kim (R-CA) to improve cost transparency for stays in short-term lodgings, such as hotels, motels and inns. María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) continues to build support for the Dignity Act (H.R. 3599), the only major bipartisan immigration bill in Congress. With conversations about Congress tackling immigration next year, many recognize the Dignity Act as the most consequential piece of immigration legislation that not only secures our southern border but addresses our major immigration challenges beyond the border. In October 2024, the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus in the House of Representatives announced its official endorsement of the Dignity Act (H.R. 3599). The Problem Solvers Caucus is a group of more than 60 Members of Congress who are committed to advancing common-sense solutions to key issues facing the United States. Problem Solvers Caucus endorsements are often a critical threshold to pass before advancing major bipartisan legislation. The bill was brought forward for Caucus endorsement by Representatives Salazar and Hillary Scholten (D-MI), an original co-lead of the bill. It is the first time the caucus has endorsed a major immigration policy. “The United States desperately needs an immigration solution, and the Dignity Act is the best and most viable bill to secure our border and solve our nation’s immigration problems,” said Rep. María Elvira Salazar. “I am proud that the bipartisan Dignity Act received the endorsement of the Problem Solvers Caucus – a critical group of lawmakers in Congress who are willing to advance solutions that prioritize national security, practical reforms, and economic growth.” “For far too long, our immigration system has been a glaring failure, and Americans are suffering as a result,” said Problem Solvers Caucus Co-Chair, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. “The Dignity Act stands as a historic, bipartisan solution that decisively ends illegal immigration, secures our borders, and drives economic prosperity in the United States. Pulluru, a junior who attends The Out-of-Door Academy, designed a software application to help older adults over the age of 65 determine if there are falling risks in their living environment. Buchanan commended Pulluru for his app and his commitment to serving older Americans. “I am very impressed and heartened to see this young student using his abilities to help our aging population,” said Buchanan. “Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults ages 65 and older, with over 14 million older adults reporting a fall every year. With nearly two hundred thousand seniors in my district and millions throughout the state of Florida, this app has the potential to help lower these risks and keep people safe.” “STEM education gives students the tools they need to succeed and help the U.S. compete in an increasingly global 21st century economy,” Buchanan continued. “Children are 25 percent of the population, but 100 percent of the future, and the future is in good hands with students like Manav.” The winning entry, SafeHavenAI, uses AI and image recognition from uploaded photos, along with a sophisticated algorithm and questions approved by doctors, to screen for potential fall risks within a home. Pulluru was inspired to create this app after having a great-grandfather fall and break his hip, causing him to be bedridden. He is hoping to ensure others do not suffer or lose their lives from preventable falls. “After seeing how a fall changed the life of my own great-grandfather, I knew something had to be done,” said Pulluru. “With one in four older adults falling each year, my partner and I created SafeHavenAI to prevent these accidents. I hope that this app will be able to eliminate preventable falls from seniors, helping families like mine save money and ensuring their loved ones are safer in their living environment.” Pulluru designed the app in tandem w… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-06T19:07:19Z

The bill keeps Americans safe by fighting illicit drugs where they are sourced, cutting off the supply of chemicals and drugs before they reach American shores. “The fentanyl crisis is destroying American communities, and Miami is no stranger to the dangers these drugs pose,” said Chairwoman Salazar. “Thank you to House Republican Leadership for prioritizing my DISPOSE Act in the National Defense Authorization Act. This bill will save American lives and rob cartels and criminals of a major source of income. “The deadly fentanyl trade is an international crisis that demands full attention from Congress,” said Congressman Joaquin Castro, Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere. “Last year, more than 500 people in the San Antonio area died from fentanyl that should never have reached Texas. The DISPOSE Act takes common-sense steps to help America’s partners seize and destroy fentanyl precursors and save lives. I’m proud to partner with Chairwoman Salazar, Senator Grassley, and Senator Shaheen on this important step forward and I look forward to seeing President Biden sign the DISPOSE Act into law." “We must DISPOSE of fentanyl and the devastation it is unleashing all across our country,” said Congressman Lawler. “The DISPOSE Act is an importa… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

This critical new law delivers long-overdue tax relief for Americans impacted by natural disasters. “This is a victory for every American who has faced the devastating toll of a natural disaster,” said Rep. Steube. “From Florida to California, disasters don’t discriminate by state or party. This bipartisan legislation is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together to prioritize the needs of the American people. After two years of fighting for this relief, this law will help families rebuild their lives and recover with fewer financial barriers.” The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act allows Americans to claim disaster-related losses without having to itemize deductions and eliminates the burdensome 10% Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) threshold for claiming those losses. It also ensures that settlements for disaster victims are tax-free and provides relief for recent hurricanes, including Ian, Nicole, Idalia, Helene, Debby, and Milton, as well as disasters declared up to 60 days after the law’s enactment. In addition, the law includes tax relief for wildfire victims in the West and for families impacted by the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment. “The devastation caused by disasters doesn’t stop at state borders or political lines—it affects every Floridian and every American. This bipartisan effort delivers relief to communities across the nation, whether they’re recovering from a hurricane, wildfire, or another tragedy,” Steube continued. “For Florida, where we’ve faced the brunt of multiple hurricanes in recent years, this law means real help for families and businesses working to rebuild. Upon passage, Congressman Bean said: “I was proud to support this year’s NDAA which refocuses the military on its core mission of defending our nation, supports operations along our southern border, and puts an end to divisive ideological policies that have undermined recruitment, retention, and the morale of our military. This legislation also provides a much-needed 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted service members and a 4.5% pay raise for all other service members. Additional quality-of-life provisions in the bill include allowing service members to seek some specialty health care without Tricare referrals, requiring pay for on-base childcare workers to be competitive with the private sector, and making it easier for military spouses to transfer professional licenses between states. The bill requires all DoD components to undertake an annual independent audit and saves taxpayers $31 billion by cutting inefficient programs, obsolete weapons systems, and unnecessary Pentagon bureaucracy. I will always defend our national interests because the American people deserve a military that doesn’t cater to any credo other than America First.” BACKGROUND: The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is legislation that Congress passes each year to make changes to the policies and organization of United States defense agencies and provide guidance on how military funding may be spent. Though funding for the U.S. military must be approved through appropriation bills, Congress uses the NDAA to establish defense priorities, make organizational changes to military agencies, and guide the Department of Defense. WRDA 2024 authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to carry out critical water resources development projects and studies. Regular consideration of locally driven, rigorously studied, and nationally significant water resources infrastructure is key to preserving our nation’s economy, strengthening U.S. and international commerce, protecting our communities and businesses during natural disasters, and maintaining our quality of life. “From JAXPORT to Fernandina Beach, I was proud to play a key role in crafting WRDA and be a voice for Northeast Floridians. This bill is a massive victory for the Fourth District, as it enhances environmental restoration efforts at Fort George and supports a new dry dock in Jacksonville. I’m particularly grateful to secure modifications to shoreline easements that are delaying critically important hurricane risk reduction projects. WRDA 2024 Northeast Florida priorities championed by Congressman Bean include: Authorization of a new feasibility study for the Fort George Inlet erosion control project in Jacksonville to reduce or eliminate the accelerating loss of Little Talbot Island State Park lands, to stabilize the inlet to prevent further erosion, and to determine beneficial use of dredged beach compatible sand. The construction of a long-stalled new dry dock facility at the Jacksonville Harbor that would provide maintenance and other services to military, recreational, and other vessels. The requirements apply to adults receiving Medicaid benefits who are not in school and have no dependents. This bill would help lift millions off government dependence, save taxpayer dollars, and put America on the path of fiscal responsibility. “Work is an honorable enterprise, and it promotes a dignified pathway out of poverty. Yet today, there are more than 1.5 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid who are not working. We can’t keep asking hardworking Americans to pay for services for their neighbors who refuse to work,” said Congressman Bean. “Imposing work requirements on able-bodied adults without a dependent is not only common sense, but it would allow working Americans to keep more of their hard-earned money.” “These requirements are reasonable and flexible, allowing beneficiaries to meet eligibility in a variety of ways. By encouraging work, community service, or skill development, we can empower individuals to break free from the cycle of dependency and take control of their futures,” said Congresswoman Hageman. BACKGROUND As the number of people on Medicaid has increased to more than 93 million, the labor force participation rate has decreased to 62.5%. Specifically, this legislation would require able-bodied adults without dependents, to work, volunteer, enroll in a school or a job training program for 80 hours a month to be eligible for Medicaid benefits. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated similar able-bodied work requirements for Medicaid benefits would save taxpayers $109 billion over the next decade. Meanwhile, the Biden administration continues to prioritize foreign aid over American citizens. Just recently, President Biden announced $1 billion in disaster relief for Africa—while victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton here at home still wait for help. The American people have felt neglected for four years while Biden prioritized the needs of other countries. It’s time our policies reflect the needs of our own people,” said Rep. Steube. The STAND Act withholds bilateral, multilateral, and humanitarian non-defense foreign assistance obligated or expended by the State Department or USAID during the first 60 days of a Presidentially declared disaster. The prohibition may only be waived upon a joint resolution passed by Congress. Within 60 days of two Presidentially declared disasters, the Biden Administration announced new foreign aid installments for many foreign countries including: more than $1 billion in additional humanitarian assistance for communities in 31 African countries, specifically noting that the funding is geared towards helping those impacted by natural disasters and extreme weather events in Africa, $38 million in new programs for the environment, food security, and civil society in Cambodia, and $157 million in new humanitarian assistance for Lebanon. The latter funding tranche was announced within a week of Hurricane Helene’s landfall and while communities were struggling to adequately prepare for the incoming impact of Hurr… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

This Army program, which is meant to honor our fallen service members, was suspended in 2023 due to the alleged maltreatment and deaths of horses used in these the funeral processions. “Those who have selflessly served our country in uniform and are being laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery deserve a proper, honorable burial,” said Buchanan. “The Army had over a year and a half to make needed fixes to this program to ensure the continued health of the horses. I am hopeful that Congress includes this legislation in the final version of this year’s National Defense Authorization Act to immediately resume horse-drawn funeral processions for our fallen soldiers.” This legislation will require the Secretary of the Army to resume these services at Arlington National Cemetery within 60 days of its enactment. It also requires the Secretary of the Army to submit a monthly report to Congress on funerals at Arlington National Cemetery that have been placed on hold as a result of the suspension of this important program. Buchanan’s bill is a companion to language first introduced by Senator Tom Cotton, which was included in the Senate’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025. “The families of American heroes should not have to wait indefinitely for their loved ones to be buried with the honors they earned and deserve. The Army’s Old Guard has provided caisson services honorably for years and is more than capable of doing so now. The Army should resume caisson services immediately,” said Sen. Cotton. "Every athlete at every level deserves to participate in sports in a safe, harm-free environment,” said Rep. That’s why I’m proud to introduce this bipartisan legislation with my colleagues to restore trust, strengthen safeguards and ensure every athlete can thrive in a supportive environment.” “Our nation’s athletes at all ages go through extensive training and work overtime to achieve their athletic goals. Unfortunately, the prevalence of sexual abuse by some of their most trusted mentors and coaches is all too common,” said Congressman Joyce. “After extensive conversations with athletes who have used the effective SafeSport program since 2018, my colleagues and I put together the Safer Sports for Athletes Act to make necessary improvements. Congress must fund the modernization of NOAA’s aging planes to help protect our communities.” “With increasingly severe hurricane seasons, communities across the nation are relying more than ever on NOAA’s life-saving storm tracking and forecasting capabilities,” said Wasserman Schultz. “By investing in new hurricane hunter aircraft now, we ensure that NOAA can continue to protect lives, property, and entire communities from the growing threats of extreme weather.” The funding, as outlined in the Administration’s supplemental request, would enable NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) to complete construction of two new hurricane hunter planes already in progress and acquire a third. This modernization effort is vital to maintaining the nation’s hurricane and extreme weather forecasting capabilities. NOAA’s current WP-3D Orion planes are set to retire in 2030 after decades of service. Florida is the world's largest PG producing area with 1 billion tons of PG stored in stacks, mainly in the Central Florida region. In 2021, a tear at a PG stack facility allowed for millions of gallons of untreated wastewater to be released into Tampa Bay, devastating the clean waters of the bay and causing a red tide outbreak, killing millions of fish. In 2023, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill into law to allow the cancer-causing material to be used in road construction. Frost’s bill has the support of a half-dozen Central Florida leaders including State Senator Geraldine F. Thompson, State Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith, State Representative Anna V. Eskamani, State Representative Rita Harris, State Representative Johanna López, Orange County Commissioner Kelly Semrad. “Leaders like Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis care more about making sure that their corporate donors are happy than they do about making sure your communities aren’t built with cancer-causing materials. It’s disgusting,” said Congressman Maxwell Frost. “PG can and has seeped into our water, into our soil, and into our air – endangering our people, our environment, and our businesses. We need to take action to make sure that no future administration can allow this radioactive and cancer-causing substance to be used to build our roads without adhering to very high safety standards.” “The health and safety of our communities must always come first. Many Floridians are still struggling to recover from the financial toll of these disasters. H.R. 5863 addresses this need by removing the minimum loss threshold to qualify for tax write-offs and the requirement for itemizing deductions. María Elvira Salazar. “My community in Miami understands the evils of communism very well, and we must ensure all Americans are aware of the death and misery it has caused. Their stories and memories will now live on in the minds of our youth.” The CCT Act makes educational materials available through the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to help educate middle and high school students about the dangers of communism and totalitarianism, and how they are contrary to the founding principles of freedom and democracy in the United States. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-25) and Lois Frankel (FL-22) released the following statement on Amnesty International’s recent report on Israel: “Amnesty International’s report relies on fraudulently attributing genocidal intent to Israeli officials and the Israeli people at large. The argument rests entirely on a politically driven revisionist definition of what constitutes a genocide, breaking with internationally accepted standards to reach Amnesty's desired conclusion. The authors argue that the threshold of evidence for accusing states of genocide is “too high” and in doing so, acknowledge that their findings in Gaza do not meet the elements of the crime. When a prosecutor concludes that they lack the evidence to meet a legal standard, they should modify the accusation rather than mangling the statute to accommodate a predetermined assumption of guilt. This is especially crucial when it comes to the most horrific accusation that can be leveled against a nation. Instead, Amnesty’s slanderous report conflates conduct with intent, confuses outcomes with objectives, and contrives a novel legal framework that cites Israel’s very existence as evidence of its malign intent. This misguided report will not help end the war or resolve the conflict. It will not help free the hostages or bring peace to civilians endangered by Hamas. It will, however, cheapen the meaning of genocide. And tragically, it will likely discredit legitimate concern for the humanitarian crisis brought on by Hamas’ truly genocidal ambitions, routine abuse of civilians and hostages as human shields and willful disregard for the lives of Palestinians.” 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

More working families in Florida are now just one step away from being able to access affordable health coverage for their children, as a unanimous Florida Legislature intended. All that stands between allowing 165,000 more Florida kids access to high-quality health coverage is a signature from Governor DeSantis. “The plan to expand KidCare to children up to 300% of the federal poverty threshold was passed unanimously by state lawmakers in early 2023. Despite the bipartisan support in the state, Governor DeSantis failed to implement the expansion and instead dragged his feet by throwing up roadblocks and wasteful lawsuits for almost a year and a half. It is now solely in his hands to allow this important expansion to go forward, but once again, he is acting like Ebenezer Scrooge. “I urge Governor DeSantis to do the right thing for Florida families, be fiscally responsible, and follow the law so that Florida kids can access the health care they need and deserve. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and Madeleine Dean’s (D-PA) TAKE IT DOWN Act (H.R. 8989). The TAKE IT DOWN Act protects victims of real and deepfake ‘revenge pornography,’ a crime that is increasingly and rapidly affecting our nation’s youth. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) led a large bipartisan coalition of senators in introducing and passing the Senate version of this bill. The growth in non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), more commonly known as ‘revenge porn,’ following the rising popularity of AI, requires decisive legal protections that will empower victims, most of whom are women and girls. The TAKE IT DOWN Act criminalizes the publication of these harmful images and requires websites to quickly remove them. “By voting for the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the Senate took a stand to protect women and girls victimized by bad actors stealing their likenesses to create fake revenge porn,” said Rep. María Elvira Salazar. “To my colleagues in the House of Representatives – let’s join the Senate and pass this bill to protect these innocent victims NOW!” Representative Salazar is one of Congress’ leading voices on protecting the right of Americans to their voices and likenesses against the abuses of AI, as well as their ability to go after criminals who abuse those rights for personal gain. “The Senate’s passage of the TAKE IT DOWN Act is a significant step forward in Congress’ responsibility to swiftly regulate some of the most harmful developments of AI — and urgently defend victims and survivors of exploitative deepfakes and non-consensual intimate imagery. We must defend victims and ensure these images are removed from the Internet. I am eager to work with Congresswoman Salazar to tackle these critical issues,” said Rep. Madeleine Dean. “Over the past several months, courageous victims of AI-deepfake ‘revenge porn’ have shared their stories to raise awareness and inform lawmakers’ efforts to stop this desp… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

Greg Steube Announces Senate Passage of his Disaster Tax Relief Legislation Steube Legislation Heads to President Biden’s Desk WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today announced his legislation, H.R. 5863 The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act, passed the U.S. Senate. The legislation provides long-awaited tax relief for Americans harmed by recent hurricanes, wildfires, floods, tornadoes, and the train derailment in Ohio. The legislation now awaits President Joe Biden’s signature to become law. “More than two years ago, Hurricane Ian decimated my district. Due to inaction by Congress, millions of Americans have missed out on the disaster tax deductions that are typically available after presidentially-declared disasters. Since then, I’ve fought to deliver tax relief for not only my constituents – but for the many Americans impacted by natural disasters across the country. Floridians have compounded damage and rebuilding expenses from five hurricanes since Ian, including three back-to-back hurricanes this season. I promised to fight for full hurricane recovery for my district as long as it takes. Today, Congress delivered on my promise,” said Rep. Steube. “I applaud the Senate for putting this relief within arms reach for Floridians – we’re talking about hundreds of millions of dollars in Floridians’ pockets thanks to my legislation. I expect President Biden will recognize the great impact my legislation will have on America’s families and sign my legislation into law.” Rep. Steube’s legislation designates that Hurricane Ian and other hurricanes including Hurricanes Idalia, Nicole, Fiona, Debby, Helene, and Milton should be treated as qualified disaster events for purposes of determining the tax treatment of certain disaster-related personal casualty losses. The legislation will cover any potential major disasters occurring up to 60 days after the President’s signature. The legislation would allow Americans who were subjected to damages from hurricanes and other federally declared disaster… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) and Scott Franklin (FL-18) led 10 of their Florida colleagues in a bipartisan letter urging Congress to include funds to modernize the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) hurricane hunter aircraft fleet in any upcoming emergency disaster relief supplemental package. “With increasingly severe hurricane seasons, communities across the nation are relying more than ever on NOAA’s life-saving storm tracking and forecasting capabilities,” said Wasserman Schultz. “By investing in new hurricane hunter aircraft now, we ensure that NOAA can continue to protect lives, property, and entire communities from the growing threats of extreme weather.” “NOAA’s hurricane hunter fleet is imperative to delivering real-time data to improve the accuracy of forecasts and inform emergency management efforts,” said Franklin. “During Hurricane Milton, I joined the crew of NOAA 42 and saw firsthand the importance of this live-saving weather tracking technology. Congress must fund the modernization of NOAA’s aging planes to help protect our communities.” The funding, as requested in the Administration’s recent supplemental request, would enable NOAA’s Office of Marine and Aviation Operations (OMAO) to complete construction of two new hurricane hunter planes already in progress and acquire a third. This modernization effort is vital to maintaining the nation’s hurricane and extreme weather forecasting capabilities. "Jim Rohn one of the pioneers of personal development, once said: 'Time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it, kill it, and spend it rather than invest it,' and in no place is this truer than in our nation’s classrooms. Our teachers have limited time to teach, and our kids have limited time to learn. "New research published earlier this year by NWEA Research shows that four years after the pandemic, eighth graders are a full year behind in math and reading. In fact, the average U.S. student would need more than four months of school to catch up to pre-pandemic achievement levels. Out of 38 major countries, the U.S. ranks 26th in math, 6th in reading, and 10th in science globally. We certainly don’t have time to waste. "So, while students have returned to in-person instruction, it’s clear that our kids are in trouble. Why? Rather than a curriculum that focuses on helping students bounce back from Covid setbacks, our children are taught woke and divisive Marxist inspired ideology. "Today, we’re here to discuss the dangers inherent in the curriculum being taught in many American elementary and secondary schools. Chief among these dangers is that schools are substituting the traditional narrative of this great but flawed nation with a political story built on racial resentment and collective guilt. "That force is called Critical Race Theory, or CRT—a neo-Marxist ideology that’s crept into classrooms across America—and it is reshaping how young people interpret their identity and changing how they see themselves, each other, and our country. "You may hear the other side of the aisle say today, 'CRT? That can’t possibly exist in American K-12 classrooms.' Well, I want to ass… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

The bipartisan bill will improve maps of current whale habitat, create predictive maps that forecast future shifts in whale habitats in response to changing environmental conditions and conduct specific research on understudied baleen whale species. “With a thriving global maritime industry, it's critical that vessels can travel alongside whale populations without risking dangerous collisions,” said Congressman Buchanan. “That's why I'm proud to help introduce the Whale CHARTS Act, which requires NOAA to update and improve mapping of baleen and sperm whale habitats—protecting both marine wildlife and recreational and commercial boaters.” “Current distribution maps of baleen and sperm whale habitat lack accuracy and are based on limited data,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “This limits the usefulness of these maps for protecting whales and for protecting recreational boaters and commercial ships from collisions with whales, which can present a considerable danger to both the passengers and the vessel. The Whale CHARTS Act will protect whales and the general public by directing the federal government to improve mapping of whale habitat and make the improved maps available to mariners and the public.” “Current predictive maps for baleen and sperm whale feeding and calving are outdated and based on limited data, leading to an increased potential for collisions between these large animals and recreational vessels,” said Congresswoman Malliotakis. “Our legislation seeks to correct this issue by requiring NOA… 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z

H.R. 5103 is the twenty-sixth piece of legislation sponsored by Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) that has passed the U.S. “Following Hurricane Ian, Southwest Florida’s seafood industry incurred catastrophic devastation and its impact still persists," said Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL). "Waterways are the lifeblood of our economy and our community. It has always been my commitment to advocate for the vitality of water—which ultimately benefits countless families, businesses, and the overall development of the Sunshine State. I am proud to receive the broad, bipartisan support of my colleagues on this critical proposal and look forward to its successful passage on the floor of the United States Senate.” "During a time of natural disaster, time can often be the difference between life and death," said House Committee on Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR). As President-elect Trump prepares for his second term, recalibrating the Federal Reserve’s focus to its core mission—price stability—should be at the top of Trump’s priority list. We are the authors of the Price Stability Act, the only bill in Congress that calls for price stability to be the Fed’s sole mandate. The Fed needs to end its dual mandate, steer clear of policy fads like climate mandates and give the whole of its attention to taming inflation. With Mr. Trump in command, we have an opportunity to return the Fed to making data-driven decisions on monetary policy. It can take a rules-based approach to setting interest rates that achieve its core, essential mission of price stability—no matter if rates go up or down. It is time we let our financial institutions focus on their core mission of fueling economic growth with accessible credit. The Fed must focus on its core mission of taming inflation. Rep. This legislation would provide formal congressional authorization to President Trump to eliminate unlawful powers exercised by federal agencies. “President Trump was elected with a clear mandate to fight the ever-growing influence of the federal bureaucracy and hold federal agencies accountable for going beyond the scope of their power as outlined in the Constitution,” said Congressman Dunn. “To that end, the President-elect has organized the Department of Government Efficiency to review every federal agency to eliminate wasteful, duplicative, and unlawful practices. This bill will provide a clear process to rein in and, when necessary, eliminate federal agencies that abuse their power. “The 10th Amendment Restoration Act will give the Trump Administration congressional authorization to conduct its activities to reform the federal government and ensure that all federal agencies are operating within the bounds of the Constitution. This legislation will allow the Trump Administration to begin evaluating government efficiency on the day he takes office and avoid any delay in implementing his reforms.” In addition to establishing a Constitutional Government Review Commission, this legislation would also allow that Commission to recommend if a federal agency should have its powers restricted or if the agency should be repealed entirely. The Commission’s recommendation would receive expedited floor consideration in both chambers of Congress to allow for quick implementation of the Commission’s recommendations. The Commission would also make recommendations for redistributing the funds from shuttered federal agencies. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-07T22:13:55Z
